At Good News Church, we believe that Christian fellowship extends beyond the walls of the church building and formal services. We enjoy spending time together in various ways, and our weekly volleyball games have become a beloved tradition for our community. It is a time to get active, have fun, and build stronger bonds with one another. We believe that God has given us all things richly to enjoy, and that includes the gift of play and physical activity.
Fellowship and Fitness
Our volleyball nights are about more than just the game; they are about people. In our increasingly digital and isolated world, face-to-face interaction is precious. Sports provide a unique environment where we can learn to work as a team, encourage one another, and practice good sportsmanship. We believe that caring for our physical bodies is a part of our stewardship before God, and doing so in community makes it all the more enjoyable. We laugh together, sweat together, and sometimes even learn humility together when we miss a shot!
A Wholesome Environment
We strive to conduct our games in a way that honors Christ. While we play competitively, we prioritize kindness, patience, and encouragement. We want our volleyball nights to be a safe haven where people can relax without fear of judgment or harshness. No bad language or aggressive behavior is tolerated. It’s a great place to bring children and teenagers to see healthy interaction among adults, and for families to spend an evening together in a positive atmosphere.
Open to Everyone
These games are truly open to everyone. You don’t need to be a professional player or even a member of our church to join in. We have a mix of skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and welcoming.
- Beginners: Don’t be shy! We are happy to teach you the basics and help you get comfortable on the court. We were all beginners once.
- Experienced Players: Come and enjoy a good game while helping others improve. Your skill can be a blessing to others as you model patience and teamwork.
A Bridge to the Community
We also see our volleyball ministry as a bridge to our local community. It is a non-threatening and fun way for people to get to know Christians and experience the love and welcome of the church family. Many friendships have started on the volleyball court that have led to deeper conversations about life and faith.
We invite you to come along, bring a friend, and enjoy the game! Check our schedule for times and locations. Whether you come to play or just to cheer and chat, you are welcome. We look forward to meeting you on the court!
